How it Works
Dexlansoprazole belongs to a class of antisecretory compounds called substituted
benzimidazoles. It suppresses gastric acid secretion by specifically inhibiting the (H⁺, K⁺)-
ATPase enzyme located on the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells. As a proton pump
inhibitor, it blocks the final step of acid production in the stomach.

Barrett’s esophagus, bezoar, abnormal bowel sounds, breath odor, microscopic colitis,

Drug Interactions
Rilpivirine, atazanavir, nelfinavir

Indication
For patients aged 12 years and older:
Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (up to 8 weeks)
Maintenance of healing and heartburn relief (up to 6 months)
Treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive GERD (4 weeks)
When Not to Use (Contraindications)
Known hypersensitivity to dexlansoprazole or any excipient
Concurrent use with rilpivirine-containing products
Severe hepatic impairment
Dexxoo Capsules Precautions
Precaution
Use of proton pump inhibitors may increase the risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea,
especially in hospitalized patients. Use the lowest effective dose and shortest duration
appropriate to the condition.
Dexxoo Capsules Warnings
1. Osteoporosis-Related Fractures:
Increased risk of bone fractures (hip, spine, wrist) with PPI therapy. Use lowest effective
dose and shortest duration, especially in patients at risk.
2. Serum Magnesium:
Monitor magnesium levels before and during long-term therapy, especially if using
digoxin, diuretics, or drugs causing hypomagnesemia.
3. Vitamin B12 Deficiency:
Long-term use may cause vitamin B12 malabsorption and deficiency.
