How it Works:
Lactulose is a synthetic sugar that works as an osmotic laxative:
 Draws water into the colon
 Softens stools and stimulates bowel movements
 Not absorbed into the bloodstream
 In hepatic encephalopathy, it helps reduce blood ammonia levels
Usage and Safety
Dosage:
 Active Ingredient: Lactulose

1. Stay hydrated – Drink ~2 liters (6–8 glasses) of fluid daily
2. Diabetic patients may need dosage adjustments for other meds due to sugar content
3. Monitor hydration & electrolyte levels, especially with long-term or high-dose use
