Lactic Acidosis (Metformin-related):
Life-threatening condition
Early signs: Malaise, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, myalgia, confusion
Risk increased in renal or hepatic impairment
Hypotension (Empagliflozin-related):
Due to volume depletion
Monitor elderly, patients with low systolic BP, renal dysfunction, or on diuretics
Ketoacidosis:
Occurs in Type 1 and 2 diabetes
Can present with mildly elevated glucose levels
Requires immediate hospitalization
