Mechanism of Action:
Empagliflozin is a Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, which:
Inhibits glucose reabsorption in the kidneys
Reduces the renal threshold for glucose

Lowers blood glucose levels independently of insulin
