How it Works:
 Diphenhydramine: antihistamine that relieves coughing and reduces dry nasal and chest
secretions.
 Dextromethorphan: antitussive that suppresses cough reflex.
Dosage:
Contains Dextromethorphan hydrobromide and Diphenhydramine hydrochloride.
Side Effects:
Dependence and addiction, dizziness, headache, difficulty performing tasks, blurred vision,
thickened mucus or dry mouth, upset stomach, unusual weakness.
Drug Interactions:
Do NOT use with MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide,
phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine) or sibutramine due to serious
interactions.
Indication:
Nighttime relief of dry, irritating cough.
When Not to Use:
Respiratory depression, severe hypertension, gastric ulcer, glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy with
residual urine, hypersensitivity to ingredients.
Precautions:
May cause hallucinations, confusion, agitation, overactive reflexes, shivering, muscle twitching,
rapid heart rate.
Warnings:
 Avoid MAO inhibitors within 2 weeks before or after use.
 Avoid concurrent use with other antihistamines, sedatives, hypnotics, antipsychotics.
 Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may cause drowsiness.
