How It Works
Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is produced in the skin under UV light exposure and metabolized in
the liver and kidneys to form the active metabolite 1,25-dihydroxy-cholecalciferol. This active
form plays a critical role in regulating calcium and phosphate balance alongside parathyroid
hormone and calcitonin.

Indications
1. Dietary supplement to prevent vitamin D deficiency in adults and children.
2. Prevention of deficiency in high-risk patients (malabsorption, chronic diseases, metabolic
disorders, drugs).
3. Treatment of vitamin D deficiency states such as rickets, osteomalacia, and osteoporosis.
Note: Calcium supplements should be provided alongside vitamin D supplementation.
When Not to Use
 Hypersensitivity to cholecalciferol or any ingredients
 Hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria
 Patients prone to calcium-containing kidney stones
 Patients with pseudohypoparathyroidism
Precautions
 Adjust dosage when combined with other vitamin D or calcium supplements.
 Serum and urine calcium levels must be regularly monitored under medical supervision.
Warnings
1. Use cautiously in patients with impaired renal calcium and phosphate excretion.
2. Dosage must be reduced or therapy discontinued in cases of hypercalcemia or reduced
kidney function.
3. Use cautiously in sarcoidosis patients due to increased risk of active vitamin D metabolite
formation.
